KIWIE 1001, the NFT project launched by popular Latvian street artist collective KIWIE, has organized a European NFT showroom to promote NFT art both by KIWIE and other digital artists.
The showroom will be held at Galerija Centrs, an almost 100 years old shopping mall, located in Old Riga, built in 1938. The physical venue in Galerija Centrs will be specially prepared to showcase the best digital art pieces. Access to the showroom will be free to all.
Marking its entry into the evolving world of NFTs, one of the largest Latvian art centers, Zuzeum, has acquired KIWIE’s Gray Rainbow NFT as the digital art collective wraps up its first auction round of Fat Monster NFT collectibles on Rarible.
The art world has been drastically affected by the economic downturn of 2020 due to Covid-19, but in 2021, NFTs have become a major disruptor in the industry. NFTs have the potential to revolutionize the art world by making digital works accessible to a wider audience, democratizing the space, and fostering greater innovation among creators. An example is Latvian art collective KIWIE, which is utilizing NFTs to put street art on the blockchain. NFTs can also represent both the physical and digital works, and platforms and tools are becoming increasingly relevant as a result.
A Latvian artist going only by the name of Kiwie has announced their intention to release more than a thousand nonfungible tokens that represent real-world street art. According to a statement from Kiwie, the NFT pieces will allow art connoisseurs to physically own street art without removing the brick wall, sidewalk or other infrastructure to which it was applied. The NFTs feature 3D renderings of the artist’s “Fat Monster” character spray painted in 1,001 real-world locations with corresponding geotags.
KIWIE, a worldwide-famous Latvian street art collective, is unveiling a new series of blockchain-enabled art installations across the world. Building on the signature Fat Monster character developed by KIWIE back in 2006, the artists are making street graffiti that are owned directly by the holder of the NFT.
